Sept 04 - Norris and Steamboat Geyser
When we woke the next morning at Norris campground, we could see a large steam plume about a mile away. Apparently, Steamboat Geyser blew that night, the first time since last year, and in 2005 before that. Very irregular and infrequent. But we didn't know this until we arrived at Norris, and saw a lot of people scurrying about.
also at Norris Basin..
and the basin
and, again, Steamboat from a distance
On the way out towards Mammoth. The plan: north from Norris to Mammoth today and south to Old Faithful tomorrow.
What a great morning!
